Abhaneri is just 95 kilometers away from Jaipur, which lies in the midway of Jaipur-Agra road. The village was established by the Samrat Mihir Bhoj, who was the Gurjars pratihar king.
The village was originally named as Abha Nagri which means “the city of brightness”. It draws a major attention of tourists from across the globe.
Abhanery is dotted with the marvelous structural design which was invented by the natives, their main purpose to make this stepwell is to harvest the rainwater. Previously it was used as a cool place of retreat and as a water reservoir. Later it was popularly known as a Chand Baori which is popular for its stunning art of stepwell. The stepwell is delicately carved well which is located, a facade to the Harshat Mata Temple. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Harshat Mata, which was demolished during the 10th century and the remainings still boast architectural and sculptural styles.
